The Hellenic
University Club of Philadelphia is a not-for-profit
organization that has flourished for more than seventy
years. Some 350 professionals, primarily of Greek descent,
comprise our membership roster. A love of Greece, and a love
of learning (PAIDEIA) bring and bind us together. We strive
to carry forward this rich heritage and to keep Greek
culture thriving in the Philadelphia area.
The mission of the
Club is dual: educational and social.
The education part
of our mission is very important to us. We have lecture programs in the
fall and spring and our
Scholarship Program for undergraduate and
graduate university students is the largest of its kind
among Hellenic-American organizations in our region.
Social events are also
an important part of our club. Since 1939 the highlight of
our social calendar is our Annual Dinner Dance. A formal gala, held the
first Saturday in February when we present our Achievement
Award to an individual who exemplifies the ancient and
modern ideals of Hellenism. While promoting social
fraternity within the Greater Philadelphia Greek-American
community
Informal First Friday socials
are particularly offered throughout the year for our younger
members. The Christmas Party
is for every member’s holiday pleasure and for their invited
guests. So, too, are our cultural
excursions to
cultural events outside Philadelphia.
We invite you to
browse our web site and, check out our mission and
activities and inquire how you may join and benefit from our
activities. |
